“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).  Have you ever felt like your joy has gone away? Do you feel joyless? We all feel like this from time to time, but we don’t have to.

The night before Jesus was crucified He spoke with His disciples about His great love for them. He let His disciples know that the love He has for them was as great as the love His Heavenly Father has for Him (Jesus) (John 15:9). Afterward, Jesus let them that He told them these things so that “…My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).

Because of the relationship we have with Christ, we don’t have to feel joyless. We can have complete joy in Him.  This is Christ’s promise. Without knowing Him (Jesus) and having a relationship with Him, it’s difficult to have true joy. This is why if your happiness is not based in Christ, it can be fleeting.  It can be taken away from you at any moment for any situation.

Nevertheless, when you know Christ, no matter what the circumstance may be, you can still have joy because your joy is based on Him and not your circumstances. His great love for us should also help us to remain joyful. There is no greater love than the love Christ has for us.

Can you remain joyful this week? I know I can. Amen? Amen.
