Have you ever felt like you were a new person? This can be a difficult question to answer. Perhaps you felt like a new person when you were married, or when you had your first child, or when you started your first job. However, when you have decided to make a change in your life by becoming a follower of Christ, you are supposed to become a totally new creation. In the book of 2 Corinthians it says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Paul knew and understood what it meant to be transformed. He ridiculed and persecuted people who believed and followed Christ. He had a deep contempt for Jesus. Yet, once Paul had a personal encounter with Christ, Paul’s life was transformed. Once Paul encountered Christ, Paul’s life began to change. His old ways of doing things began to change and Paul no longer had a desire to persecute Christians. He began to see things differently. Paul was transformed and he immediately became a new person.

When a person decides to give his or her life to Christ, there should be a change. That person should be transformed in some way. It is difficult to keep your old life when Christ is trying to help you to become a new person in Him. Matter of fact, you should have a desire to want to become a new person because you are so sickened by your old life.

If you have given your life to Christ, have you become a new creation? If not, then you might need to pray and search yourself to see why there have not been any changes in your life. If you truly do seek God’s discernment, He will show you where you are still unwilling to allow Him to make major transformations in your life. Can you spend some quiet time in prayer searching your life and asking Christ to come in and help you to make the transformation? I know I will.

Amen? Amen.
