If you’re fortunate enough to have a job, you probably take your job for granted. Many of us do. We often never appreciate anything until it’s gone. That’s how we are if we lose our jobs suddenly. We begin to appreciate the security, the predictability, and having the daily grind of going to work. Having a full-time job means that you will have some means of taking care of your family.

This is why the Bible says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,” (Colossians 3:23). If we see our place of employment as an opportunity to work unto our Heavenly Father, then we will not lose sight of what we are doing and how what we do is powerful and important, and provides us an opportunity to take care of our families.

No matter how mundane our jobs are, it’s important for us to work as if Our Heavenly Father is sitting right before us. It is our duty to do our best. We should be the type of employee that is dependable, hardworking, and diligent. Why? We are working as if we are working for the King.

When we have the type of attitude that our place of employment is an opportunity to live our faith, then this will help us to see work as a ministry and not just another job. No matter how things might turn out with our jobs, we know that we have done our best and it is pleasing to our Heavenly Father. This does not mean that we are worshiping our jobs, but we are thankful to our Heavenly Father for our jobs.

So while you’re at work, try to remember that you are working unto God. When you are able to do this, then you’re able to work to the best of your ability. Your job is not just another job, but it’s a gift from God to help meet your needs. Therefore, be a diligent employee and work as if your boss is our Heavenly Father. Amen? Amen.
