Memorial Day is a time when we remember our fallen heroes. It’s a time of reflection and a time of sorrow for many of our families. And this past Memorial Day was the same as so many others.  It’s important for a nation to remember the sacrifice that so many made during the prime of their lives. We should never forget and we should always be thankful for their sacrifice.

However, just like Memorial Day, remembering what our Lord and Savior has done for us is important as well.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was, also, cut down in the prime of His life.  The one big difference is that He was willing to give His life for the world.  His ultimate sacrifice allows us to enjoy eternal life. Without His death and resurrection, our faith would be in vain.

Therefore, our faith is built on the very sacrifice that Jesus was willing to make. Like John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him will not parish, but have ever lasting life.” This is the gift that Jesus gave to us when He gave His life for the world.

So, if you are having a difficult time thinking of anything good that Jesus has done on the behalf of you, read John 3:16 again. Allow the words to sink into your soul and open your heart to receive Him (Jesus) into your life. There is no better way to show a thankful heart than by dedicating your life to our Lord and Savior. Amen? Amen.
