2016 TRWF Poster 11 x 17 [Recovered]Join us for the 5th Trinity River Wind Festival, set for Saturday, October 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The unique wind-driven and recreational festival is a Trinity Commons Foundation and City of Dallas event that celebrates the Trinity River, the great outdoors and the power of wind.

Exciting new events and partners join the festival including: the 9:00 a.m. Trinity River Ramble Bike Ride sponsored by Bikin Mike.  At 11:00 a.m., Trinity River Wind Chase 4.5 Mile Run sponsored by the Trinity Dallas Series begins.  The festival welcomes the Dallas Police Department this year and as a community partner, they will showcase a number of their units and services: 911 Communications, Auto Theft, Explorers, Kids & Cops, Office of Community Affairs, Police Athletic League (PAL), Recruiting, Safelight, SOAP, and UNIDOS. The public will have a chance to get an up-close look at these services while communicating with police officers and enjoying the great outdoors at The Trinity.

The festival is presented this year by the non-profit organization, the Trinity Commons Foundation, (tinityriverdallas.com) and City of Dallas. Sprint, a long-time sponsor, also returns as a featured sponsor with special offers and games for the public to enjoy.

Activities will be held throughout the day at the Dallas Floodway near Riverfront Boulevard and Commerce Street. The event features free admission and most activities are free of charge. Parking, food trucks and some activities, such as the climbing wall, require a fee. The event welcomes back: wild birds, Dallas Zoo animals, bounce houses, face painters, the free kite giveaway, North Texas Hang/Para Gliding Association, and many other attractions.

The sky will be filled with wonderful kites in beautiful shapes, sizes and aerial feats provided by Troy Gunn and Team TKO International Stunt Kite Flyers and Gayle Woodul and Christian Baden Powell of Go Big or Go Home Show Kites. Mr. Christian Baden Powell is a world renowned kite maker who won the 2014 Grand Championship at the AKA Convention in North Carolina, and Gayle Woodul brings their giant inflatable kites to “wow” the crowds. Dallas Area Kitefliers Organization supports the festival and adds to the wonder of the day with their spectacular kite flying.
